2022 Season is over.

The “Christmas in the Village Community Choir” event was the last event for our 2022 season. What a tremendous way to end the year, a sold out event bringing the community together with songs and celebrations of Christmas. The building is winterized, the new furnaces are cold, as we actively plan our 2023 season. If you have ideas for use of the building please let us know.

Christmas in the Village Community Choir

Thank you to all who participated in the “Christmas in the Village” event at the Amherst Opera House on Friday evening 12/2/22. It turned out to be a truly unique and enjoyable experience for all. Starting with a chili feed with local baked deserts and a selection of beer & wine at 5:30pm, then having a front row seat for the TRBA Christmas Parade from the front steps & outdoors of the Opera House. Patio heaters and high tables made it a great place to take in the parade. Then a performance by the Community Choir at 7:30pm. The Amherst Opera House Co. Guild is thrilled to have been a part of this event. Most especially, thanks go to all the volunteer choir members and Janet Glodowski for making it all happen. We can’t wait for December 9th, 2023 when we can experience it again.

Tim Atwood elected to Grand Old Opry Hall of Fame

Tim Atwood
GOO Independent Country Music Hall of Fame

Tim Atwood has performed twice at the Amherst Opera House in the last 2 years. Tim & Roxanne Atwood have become close friends of the Amherst Opera House. Congratulations Tim on all the years of hard work. The induction into the GOO Hall of Fame is well deserved. Tim’s statement follows:

“Sunday night I was inducted into the Independent Country Music Hall of Fame at the Josie Awards at the Grand Ole Opry House! This was a big deal for me.

Honestly, this was such an amazing night, made absolutely perfect when my longtime friend Jeannie Seely came out in support of me because she loves me. We love each other.

Sharing the stage with Jeannie that night was magical. I know the house was filled with music crusaders, but when Seely and I began to sing, for me, we were the only two people in the room. There was magic in the air for me. It’s true. You can’t make old friends…you earn them with time and trust, respect and love. And to receive a standing ovation after that performance at the Grand Ole Opry House was the bow on the package. My heart was full!”

Valances

Recently installed valances at Amherst Opera House

Thanks to the Trudeau family the Amherst Opera House has new window valances. They are beautiful. The only issue might be that it is now apparent how great the space will look after the plaster repair and painting is done. Sometimes we get ahead of ourselves in the restoration process. Thanks much to the Trudeau family for this wonderful addition to the Amherst Opera House.

The Village Hive – Bakery and Local Foods Collective

Yesterday at 11:26 AM  ·

While we remodel the Village Hive, it seemed prudent to move the large retail cooler.

The Amherst Opera House is the new temporary home for the Hive cooler. It is stocked with Siren Shrub, kombucha, Spindrift Sparkling Water and La Colombe’ Iced Coffees for Opera House events. Of course the Amherst Opera House folks will still have beer, pop, water and popcorn for sale as usual.

There’s even a rumor that there may be freshly baked chocolate chip cookies from the Hive available Thursday night for the performance!!
